KidsCamp Singapore 2024: Empowering Children, Inspiring Joy
In celebration of the International Day for Protection of Children on 1st June, the European Union Delegation to Singapore, in collaboration with AGAPE Connecting People and KidsCamp Singapore, proudly hosted the 2nd edition of KidsCamp. This event was dedicated to girls and boys from vulnerable backgrounds, aiming to create a supportive and enjoyable environment for children who have experienced trauma. Set against the backdrop of Fort Canning Park, the camp served as a beacon of hope and happiness for all participants.
Celebrating childhood
The morning began with a warm welcome amidst the serene surroundings of Fort Canning Park. Despite the light drizzle, the enthusiasm of the KidsCamp Singapore team and the caring presence of our partners set a positive tone for the day. Ambassador Iwona Piórko emphasized the EU's commitment to child rights, highlighting the importance of providing protection and support to vulnerable children.
A day filled with fun and learning
Led by Mr. Papé Mbaye and the dedicated team from KidsCamp Singapore, the day was filled with engaging activities designed to foster joy, friendship, and personal growth. From warm-up exercises to exhilarating games like dodgeball and sack races, each activity was meticulously planned to promote social skills, problem-solving abilities, and creative thinking among the children.
Activities and Adventures
Throughout the day, children enthusiastically participated in a variety of Montessori-inspired activities, including archery, face painting, and water fights. These activities not only encouraged teamwork and physical fitness but also instilled values such as sharing, simplicity, and respect for others.
Support and guidance
Supported by AGAPE Connecting People, a total of 30 children and 12 adults embarked on a day of exploration and excitement. Special EU/KidsCamp Singapore T-shirts were presented to each participant, symbolizing unity and solidarity. The event concluded with EU goody bags and heartfelt gratitude from all involved, marking a memorable and impactful day for everyone.
Looking ahead
KidsCamp Singapore remains committed to providing enriching experiences for children, promoting inclusivity, and nurturing the potential of every participant. As we reflect on the success of the 2nd edition, we are reminded of the transformative power of compassion and care in shaping young lives.

1st Edition
Inaugural Kidscamp Singapore 29 May 2023
As part of the commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Human Rights Declaration and in celebration of the International Day for Protection of Children (1st June 2023), the European Union Delegation to Singapore, in cooperation with Casa Raudha Women Shelter and KidsCamp Singapore, presented the inaugural Kids Camp for girls and boys, who experienced domestic violence. By engaging in activities in the tranquil setting of Fort Canning Park, the objective of the event was to bring happiness into the lives of children who have experienced trauma.
A Day of Fun
A Day of Fun was designed to reflect on the EU Strategy on the Rights of the Child and the European Child Guarantee, a comprehensive EU policy framework to ensure the protection of the rights of all children, and secure access to basic services for vulnerable children. It is also in line with The Singapore 4 - 5 Convention on the Rights of the Child, in which Singapore underscores its commitment to protecting and promoting the wellbeing of Singaporean children; and the endorsement of the White Paper on Singapore Women’s Development, by all members of Parliament, which depicts preventing gender-based violence as a prerequisite for gender equality.
Rediscovering Childhood
For the 30 children of Casa Raudha, a visit to Fort Canning Park marked a significant moment. It was the first time many of them had the opportunity to simply be children again. Often having to repress their youthful spirits due to difficult life experiences, the welcoming setting of Fort Canning Park, combined with the care and enthusiasm of our KidsCamp Singapore team, allowed these children to rediscover the joy of childhood.
From Sadness to Smiles
The event was a resounding success. Children who had arrived with closed hearts, carrying sadness and melancholy, soon found their faces lit up with smiles and echoed with laughter. It showcased the transformative power of a little care and love.
Montessori-Inspired Activities
Our activities, rooted in the Montessori method and led by well-trained and experienced coaches, are designed to nurture social skills, problem-solving abilities, active listening, and leadership qualities. These activities also foster creative thinking while instilling essential values such as sharing, simplicity, and respect for others.
A Fun-Filled Day
Aside from our Montessori-inspired activities, we offer a wide range of engaging experiences. From archery to face painting, soccer to water fights, each activity is carefully curated to ensure a day filled with joy and memorable moments. Our aim is to provide children with not just a fun day out, but an opportunity to learn, grow, and make lasting memories.
At Kidscamp, we firmly believe that a little bit of care and love can make a huge difference in a child's life. Join us in bringing back the laughter, the smiles, and the sense of wonder to children who truly deserve it.
